The game's storyline takes place with a young witch or wizard who is enrolled in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The player character meets Rowan Khanna, who teaches the player about the wizarding world. A conversation with Ollivander reveals that the player's brother Jacob was expelled from Hogwarts for trying to open the "Cursed Vault," a hidden area of the school that is said to exist. In Potions class, the player character is reprimanded after a student named Merula Snyde destroys the character's potion pot. Merula leads the player into a room containing a trap for a giant maned plant demon, where they escape. A vault surrounded by ice is found, trapped in the ice with their companions, but escape to discover it is a cursed vault that cannot be opened.

In their second year at the school, Rowan and Bill Weasley are attacked by ice and end up in the hospital wing. The trio recovers, opens the cursed vault and defeats the ice knights protecting it. In the vault is a broken wand and a book, both of which belong to Jacob. This provides them with information about the other vaults on the grounds. Using these tools, they found the door to a room where Jacob used to hide secrets. This gave the location of a second Cursed Vault located in a restricted area of the library. In the vault, they defeated Bogart, who was disguised as Voldemort. Using the Broken Wand found in the first vault, the player opens the second to find the Broken Arrow and the Forbidden Forest map. After opening both vaults, school staff brought in professional help Patricia Rakepick to find and open the remaining vault. Some students are found sleepwalking into the third vault, which is cursed by the vault. Once players enter the third vault, they find a small sweater and a portrait of a dragon. The sleepwalking curse becomes worse in the second year, and students are found in the portrait. Step into the world of witches and wizards.
